NEW BRITAIN, Conn. — The Portland Sea Dogs were held hitless through the first six innings Thursday night and opened their final trip of the season with a 6-2 loss against the New Britain Rock Cats at New Britain Stadium.

Rock Cats starter Harrison Musgrave (2-3) struck out seven and walked one over six shutout innings before being relieved by Sam Moll.

The first batter Moll faced, Manuel Margot, broke up the no-hitter with a single to left. Tzu-Wei Lin followed with a single and Sam Travis walked to load the bases.

Margot scored Portland’s first run when Oscar Tejeda grounded into a double play. Carlos Asuaje added an RBI single to cut the deficit to 5-2 before Luis Martinez lined to third.

The Rock Cats scored three runs in the first on RBI singles by Mike Tauchman and Will Swanner, and a sacrifice fly by Pat Valaika.

New Britain added a two-run double by Joey Wong in the fourth.

Margot went 2 for 3 with a double and a walk for the Sea Dogs (48-83), who ended with four hits.

The Rock Cats (61-68) got two hits each from Wong and Noel Cuevas.

Portland starter Mike McCarthy (6-8) gave up five runs on six hits over five innings, striking out two and walking two.

This is the final home series for the Rock Cats, who will move to Hartford next season and be named the Hartford Yard Goats.
