AUGUSTA – A special election to choose a member of the Maine House of Representatives to represent the Standish area is scheduled for Nov. 3.
Representative Michael A. Shaw, a Democrat, resigned from the District 23 seat on Aug. 21. Maine officials announced the special election date on Thursday.
Maine political parties will now caucus to choose candidates for the election. Nominations are due by Sept. 14. The winner will serve the rest of Shaw’s term, which runs until the end of 2016.
Shaw is resigning because he is moving out of the district for a new job. It was his fourth term in the Legislature.
