Doc Rivers, father of Duke Blue Devils star Austin Rivers, said Friday from Philadelphia that Austin has not decided about whether he will come out early for the NBA draft.

“I heard the report but he hasn’t decided anything yet,” the elder Rivers told the Boston Globe. “I mean, you know, he’s got to make a decision and he leans one way one day and the other the next. So that’s part of it. This year is the first year they have to decide by April 10.”‘

CBS Sports’ Jeff Goodman reported the ACC Rookie of the Year will sign with an agent and forgo his final three collegiate seasons, but Jeremiah Rivers, Austin’s older brother, told the Raleigh News & Observer’s Jack Daly that a decision has not been made.

“My dad is not here at the moment,” Jeremiah Rivers said from the family’s home in Florida. “There’s not even no timetable or anything like that. We’ll just take it one day at a time right now.”

Doc Rivers said having choices can be awkward at times, but it’s a good position to be in. He said he is advising Austin but is not making the decision for his son.

“At the end of the day all you can do with your kids is give as much input as you can.”
