In 2003, Dwayne Raymond was a young writer moonlighting as a waiter in Provincetown, Mass., at the tip of Cape Cod, when he met legendary author and Cape Cod resident Norman Mailer. Raymond eventually became Mailer’s personal assistant, working with him for four years, until Mailer’s death in 2007. Raymond has a written a memoir of his time with Mailer, ”Mornings with Mailer: A Recollection of Friendship” (HarperCollins). Raymond, who still lives in Provincetown, will be at Longfellow Books in Portland on Thursday to talk about the book.
