About 36,000 utility customers remain without power this morning.

Power has been restored to some customers since Saturday night, when 42,000 customers were without electricity. But snow and the resulting car-into-pole accidents resulted in additional outages, said Gail Rice, a spokeswoman for the utility.

York Couny remained the hardest hit, with 14,800 accounts affected. The figure was 6,900 in Cumberland County, 6,800 in Lincoln County and 4,800 in Sagadahoc County.

Rice said it will be another night before some York County customers have power again. The timetable is expected to become clearer later in the day.
