PORTLAND — Waynflete School will host an evening with National Geographic photojournalist Brian Skerry at 7 p.m. March 17 in the Franklin Theater.

Skerry’s topic will be, “Crucial Waters: Reporting on the State of the Oceans” where 90 percent of the big fish have disappeared in the last 50 years. Skerry will share tales from his latest feature stories that illustrate various environmental problems and solutions from beneath Arctic ice to tropical coral reefs.

The event is free. Doors open at 6 p.m. Sponsors in addition to Waynflete include Coastal Studies for Girls, Friends of Casco Bay, Gulf of Maine Marine Educators Association, Island Institute and The Nature Conservancy.
