NEW HAVEN, Conn. – Two Maine wrestlers finished third in their weight classes and four others also medaled at the New England high school wrestling championships Friday and Saturday at New Haven Athletic Center.

Medals were given to the top six wrestlers in each weight class.

T.J. Vallee of Cony placed third in the 189-pound division after pinning Tyler Russell of Morse in 3 minutes, 15 seconds.

In the 171-pound division, Stephen Martin of Bonny Eagle decisioned Devon Carrillo of Middletown, Conn., 5-2.

Two other wrestlers finished fourth: Billy Gauthier of York, 135, and Zack Fields of Camden Hills, 130.

Marcus Bubar of Lisbon won a fifth-place match over Jared Burros of East Providence, R.I., in the 145 division.

Timberlane (N.H.) was the overall winner with 89 points, followed by Burlington (Mass.) with 75.5 and Cumberland (R.I.) with 69.

Camden Hills and Cony were the top Maine schools, tying for 34th with Greater Lawrence (Mass.) at 20 points.
