Marine Corps Pfc. Anthony L. Jenkins, Marine Corps Pvt. Ryan M. Spaulding, Marine Corps Pvt. Mark L. Mercer and Marine Corps Reserve Pvt. Travis W. Flagg, have all recently completed 12 weeks of basic training at Marine Corps Recruit Depot, Parris Island, S.C.

Jenkins is a 2001 graduate of Marshwood High School, South Berwick.

Spaulding is the son of Kimberly Field of Buxton and Glenn Spaulding of Standish.

Mercer is the son of Julie Francour of Auburn and Daniel Mercer of Scarborough.

Flagg is the son of Teresa Flagg of Waterford and Andrew Flagg of Harrison.

 

Air Force Airmen William M. Shelton and Christina A. Lawsure have graduated from basic military training at Lackland Air Force Base, San Antonio, Texas.

Shelton is the son of Jane Shelton of Portland and is a 2005 graduate of Deering High School.

Lawsure is the daughter of Theresa and Daniel Lawsure of Cape Elizabeth and is a 2006 graduate of Cape Elizabeth High School.

 

Petty Officer 3rd Class Zachary Rickards has deployed to Afghanistan as a member of Naval Mobile Construction Battalion 133, which is home ported in Gulfport, Miss. He is the son of Jim and Patty Rickards, New Gloucester.

 

Navy Ensign Derek T. Morin, son of Dianna and Patrick Morin of Brunswick, recently received his commission as a naval officer after completing Officer Candidate School at Officer Indoctrination School, Newport, R.I. Morin is a 2005 graduate of Cheverus High School, Portland.
