TURNER — Maine State Police say a 67-year-old man survived being shot four times at the Saracens motorcycle clubhouse in Turner.

Authorities say Bertrand Binette dialed 911 at 2 p.m. Wednesday to report that he’d been shot at the clubhouse, which also serves as his home. He remains at Central Maine Medical Center in Lewiston after undergoing surgery.

Steve McCausland of the Maine Public Safety Department said detectives returned to the clubhouse Wednesday to gather evidence and conduct interviews.

The motorcycle club, which was formed in 1970, touts its charity work but the Sun Journal newspaper says the U.S. Department of Justice in 2001 described the club as an “outlaw motorcycle gang” affiliated with groups that distribute drugs.
