GORHAM — All of that rain over a two-day period has pushed the rainfall total to a new record for the month of March in Maine’s biggest city.

Stacie Hanes from the National Weather Service says the record fell early Wednesday. She says the Portland International Jetport has recorded slightly more than 11 inches of rain for the month. That breaks the old record of 9.97 inches set in March 1953.

All of that rain has caused problems across New England.

In Maine, there are reports of washouts in Cumberland, Gorham and elsewhere across southern Maine. On Tuesday, a pond dam let loose in the town of Porter, washing out two local roads.
