ORONO —The University of Maine is hosting a daylong summit that focuses on ensuring universities are providing the right skills for the workplace.

Gov. John Baldacci will welcome educators, business leaders and other stakeholders at Tuesday’s event.

Chancellor Richard Pattenaude says the idea is to make sure college programs are aligned to provide skills needed in the workplace. He says the program will help the seven-campus system “prioritize new program development or program investment over the next few years.”

The seven University of Maine System campuses and satellites will be linked via video teleconferencing to the main site at Orono’s Wells Conference Center.
