ROCKLAND — The skirmishes that erupted in gunfire last summer on a Maine island are continuing following the acquittal of a lobsterman in the shooting.
Knox County Sheriff Donna Dennison says someone used spray paint to vandalize Vance Bunker’s pickup truck while it was parked at the airstrip on Matinicus Island.
Bunker, who’s 68, was acquitted last month of elevated aggravated assault, criminal threatening and reckless conduct. The shooting of a fellow lobstermen followed an escalating territorial feud in which two groups of lobstermen accused the other of cutting trap lines.
Dennison tells the Bangor Daily News that there’s a suspect in the vandalism.
