WILTON – Police are asking the public for help in tracking down occupants of a car who possibly witnessed a fatal crash Saturday night.

Jeffrey Burgess, 25, of Dixfield was pronounced dead at Franklin Memorial Hospital after the 8:40 p.m. accident.

Wilton police reported that the one-vehicle crash occurred at the intersection of routes 4 and 2.

Burgess and two other men, Zachary Metivier, 25, of Livermore Falls and Adam Turner, 27, of Peru, were eastbound on Route 4 in a Ford F-250 pickup when the truck ran off the road, rolled over an embankment and wound up among several trees, police said.

Metivier escaped the crash without injury, but Turner was transported to the hospital with serious injuries, police said.

A nursing supervisor said Sunday night that Turner had been treated and released.

Police did not say who was driving the vehicle, but said they believe the pickup was passing a red sedan that was also eastbound on Route 4 at the time of the crash.

They are asking that anyone riding in that car call lead investigator Officer Nick Oettinger at 645-4222.

Wilton police were assisted by officers from Jay, Dixfield and Farmington, as well as the Franklin County Sheriff’s Office and the Maine State Police.
