GORHAM — Shawn Smith had three hits and four RBI as Husson pulled away to a 12-1 victory over the University of Southern Maine in a college baseball game Tuesday.
The Eagles (18-15) took advantage of four errors by the Huskies (14-11) to extend their winning streak to three.
USM grabbed a 1-0 lead in the first inning on an RBI single by Mike Eaton. Husson tied it in the third on a sacrifice fly by Ethan Guerette, then went ahead with two runs in the fourth.

MAINE 7, BATES 2: Taylor Lewis had a double, two triples and five RBI to lead the Black Bears (20-16) past the Bobcats (14-8) at Orono.
Lewis tripled home a run in the fifth to break a 1-1 tie, then hit a three-run double in the sixth to cap a five-run rally.

SOFTBALL

USM, UMASS-BOSTON SPLIT: The Huskies (8-22, 4-4 Little East) scored nine times in the fifth inning on the way to a 12-3 second-game win over the Beacons (16-11, 3-3) at Gorham.
The Beacons won the first game, 3-1.
UMass-Boston took a 3-0 lead in Game 2, but USM tied it when Katie Davis hit an RBI double in the third. Melissa Caiazzo singled home the go-ahead run in the fifth.

BOWDOIN SWEEPS THOMAS: Clare Ronan was 5 for 6 with two homers, four runs and three RBI, and Amy Hackett was 5 for 8 with a home run, four runs and four RBI as Bowdoin (25-9) earned 10-0 and 10-2 wins over Thomas (13-13) at Waterville.
Kara Nilan had six hits, two runs and two RBI.

ST. JOSEPH’S, RIVIER SPLIT: Emily Leverone homered and drove in all three runs for the Monks (28-8, 21-3 GNAC), who won the opener 2-1 before losing 4-1 to Rivier (29-2, 23-1) at Nashua, N.H.
Madylan Kluna pitched a five-hitter in the opener, and Leverone’s sacrifice fly drove in the winning run.

WOMEN’S LACROSSE

PLYMOUTH STATE 18, USM 12: Brianna Davis had seven goals for the Panthers (5-4, 2-1 Little East) against USM (6-7, 0-2) at Gorham.
Shelby Turcotte and Lauren Santo each had three goals for Southern Maine.

MEN’S LACROSSE

COLBY 19, MAINE MARITIME 3: Whit McCarthy and Keith Fairbrother each had three goals for the Mules (8-5) as they downed the Mariners (6-5) at Waterville.

PLYMOUTH STATE 21, USM 13:
Kyle Baker had five goals for the visiting Huskies (2-9, 0-4 Little East) against Plymouth State (5-6, 2-2).
