NEWCASTLE – Ayla Allen scored eight goals Thursday to lead Mountain Valley to a 21-11 victory against Lincoln Academy in a schoolgirl lacrosse opener.

Katrina Belle scored six goals and Molly Stackhouse added five for Lincoln Academy.

 

MORSE 13, CAMDEN HILLS 2: Shannon Rice scored three goals and assisted on another to lead the Shipbuilders in an opener at Bath.

Tori Field added two goals and one assist, and Christina Stuart collected one goal and two assists for Morse.

Mia Maddox scored both goals for Camden Hills.

 

BRUNSWICK 16, OXFORD HILLS 3: Maggie Caputi scored four goals and assisted on two others as the Dragons won an opener at Brunswick.

Annie Kelly, Leila Mills and Sarah Crofton each finished with three goals for Brunswick. Kelly and Mills added two assists apiece, and Crofton had one.

Heather Knights scored twice for Oxford Hills.

 

CONY 20, EDWARD LITTLE 3: Naomi Miller scored six goals, and Cassie Diplock added five goals and an assist to lead the Rams in an opener at Augusta.

BASEBALL

CARRABEC 6, BOOTHBAY REGION 5: Brandon James drove home Aaron Lane in the 10th inning to lift the Cobras in an opener at North Anson.

Lane led off the inning with a triple.

Morgan Taylor and Tucker Atwood each had two hits for the Cobras. Boothbay forced extra innings with a run in the seventh.

SOFTBALL

CARRABEC 8, BOOTHBAY REGION 3: Courtney Turner struck out 16 in a two-hitter to lead the Cobras in an opener at North Anson.

Turner added a two-run triple in the fourth inning to break open a 1-0 game. Ashlee Knight had three singles and Angelisa Bean added two hits for Carrabec.

Sarah Caron and Tori Ripley had the hits for Boothbay.

NOTES

CHEVERUS: Senior Maggie Grindatti signed a letter of intent to play field hockey at Pacific University this fall.

Grindatti was named first-team All-State in 2008.
