Portland edges Westbrook in baseball season opener
Rudy DiMillo scored on a throwing error in the bottom of the eighth inning Saturday as Portland opened its baseball season with a 4-3 win over visiting Westbrook.
Adam Gould pitched a four-hitter to earn the win. He walked five, struck out eight and had two hits, including an RBI triple in the first inning.
Portland led 3-0 after four innings, but the Blue Blazes got a run in the fifth and two in the sixth. Matt Weimer tied the game with a sacrifice fly.
Zach Collett had a pair of doubles for Westbrook.
BOXING
LEHOULLIER LOSES TITLE MATCH: Portland Boxing Club light middleweight Jason LeHoullier (21-3-1) lost by TKO in the 10th round to Carson Jones of Oklahoma City in a North American Boxing Association championship bout Thursday night in Tulsa, Okla.
Three other Portland Boxing Club fighters — open class welterweight Jason Quirk, novice lightweight Lindsay Kyajohnian and lightweight Juan Lopez — won their matches on a card held Saturday night at Valley High School.
