PORTLAND – Theresa Hendrix hit for the cycle and pitched a six-hitter as Cheverus beat Sanford 11-3 in an SMAA softball game Monday.

Hendrix, the Stags’ leadoff batter, homered on the first pitch in the bottom of the first. She added a bases-loaded double that drove in two runs in the second inning, an RBI single in the third and an RBI triple in the sixth.

Hendrix struck out nine and allowed one earned run.

Keturah Smith had a double and a single and scored three runs for Cheverus (1-1).

Rochelle Osburn hit a double and a single for Sanford (0-2).

MCAULEY 5, BONNY EAGLE 0: Gabby Townsend struck out eight and walked three while tossing a one-hitter as the Lions (2-0) blanked the Scots (0-1) at Standish.

Sam Schildroth gave Townsend all the offense she would need with a two-run double in the third inning.

Kayla Daigle added an RBI double and scored on an error during a three-run sixth inning.

Bonny Eagle pitcher Hannah Goodale allowed seven hits and had eight strikeouts.

 

DEERING 20, PORTLAND 5: Jennifer Lynch, Kate Pickering and Netta Brown each had two hits, and the Rams scored 17 runs in the first two innings as they cruised past the Bulldogs (0-2) at Portland.

Leeann Reichert drove in three runs for Portland with a home run and a triple.

 

SCARBOROUGH 13, WINDHAM 1: Heather Carrier hit a two-run homer during a six-run second inning, and the Red Storm (2-0) beat the Eagles (0-2) in a five-inning game at Scarborough.

Mo Hannon and Erin Giles combined to strike out 13 batters for Scarborough.

Logan Genest had Windham’s only two hits — a single and a double.

BIDDEFORD 15, WESTBROOK 4: Heather Fecteau went 2 for 2 with two doubles, four RBI and three runs scored as the Tigers (2-0) cruised past the Blue Blazes (0-2) at Biddeford.

Winning pitcher Sarah Gilblair added a three-run double.

 

FRYEBURG ACADEMY 4, YORK 1: Maddie Pearson hit a tiebreaking two-run double in the bottom of the sixth inning to lift the Raiders (2-0) over the Wildcats (1-1) at Fryeburg.

Charlotte Lewis struck out seven and gave up just three hits to earn the win.

York’s lone run came on a fourth-inning homer by Chelsea Hutchins.

WELLS 5, FALMOUTH 3: Meaghan Lewia hit a three-run homer to cap a five-run second inning for the Warriors (2-0) against the Yachtsmen (1-1) at Falmouth.

Kelsey Bragdon of Wells allowed one hit and overcame eight walks.

Falmouth starter Sarah Collmus threw a three-hitter.

 

GRAY-NEW GLOUCESTER 12, FREEPORT 1: Laura Getchell took a no-hitter into the sixth inning and notched her 600th career strikeout as the Patriots (1-0) rolled past the Falcons (0-2) in Freeport.

Kassie Wilson hit a three-run homer in the fourth, and Abby Ryan had two singles and two triples for the Patriots.

Jess Kane’s RBI double in the sixth was the only hit for Freeport.

Getchell struck out 11 and walked two.

 

GREELY 14, POLAND 2: Marika Stayte drove in four runs and Mary Zambello pitched a four-hitter as the Rangers (2-0) beat the Knights (0-2) in six innings at Cumberland.

Katie Whittum and Caroline Hamilton each added three hits and scored three runs.

YARMOUTH 5, LAKE REGION 0: Abby Hutchinson struck out 14 and walked three while allowing just one hit in six innings as the Clippers (1-1) beat the Lakers (0-2) at Yarmouth.

Suzanne Driscoll paced the Yarmouth offense with three hits, three stolen bases and two RBI. Abbey Ridge added a pair of hits and drove in a run.

 

CONY 2, MT. ARARAT 1: Nicole Rugan singled, stole second and scored on a two-out double by Laina Younes in the top of the ninth inning as the Rams (3-0) edged the Eagles (1-1) at Topsham.

Mt. Ararat took a 1-0 lead in the third on a home run by Miranda Riendeau. Cony tied it in the sixth on a two-out homer by Amy Jones.

Mt. Ararat pitcher Megan Carr allowed only six hits.

LACROSSE

BRUNSWICK 15, CONY 7: Leila Mills had five goals and five assists, and Maggie Caputi added three goals for the Dragons (2-0) against the Rams (1-1) at Brunswick.

Cassie Diplock scored four goals for Cony.

 

MORSE 16, MOUNTAIN VALLEY 9: Lindsay Watts scored five goals and Tori Field added four to lead the Shipbuilders (2-0) over the Falcons (1-1) at Bath.

Morse also got three goals from Shannon Rice and a goal and an assist from Gia Pilgrim.

Ayla Allen scored eight goals for Mountain Valley.

 

LEWISTON 18, LINCOLN ACADEMY 15: Kristen Lacasse and Megan Pelletier scored four goals apiece to pace the Blue Devils (1-1) past the Eagles (0-2) at Newcastle.

Katrina Bell led Lincoln with five goals.
