CHESTER — Officials say a Maine man has been seriously injured in a turkey hunting accident in Chester.

The Maine Warden Service says 30-year-old Adam Jewell of LaGrange was struck in the face, neck and torso with pellets fired by a fellow turkey hunter early this morning.

Officials say Jewell and 29-year-old Joel Susen of Chester were hunting together in a field when they spotted a turkey and separated, losing track of each other. Maine Warden Service Lt. Tom Ward says Susen saw something move and fired one shot, hitting Jewell from about 40 yards away.

Jewell is being treated at Eastern Maine Medical Center in Bangor.

The Maine Warden Service is investigating the incident.
