GRAY – Ben Verrill drove in the tying run with a bunt single in the fifth inning, and an error allowed the go-ahead run to score as Gray-New Gloucester earned a 4-1 win over previously unbeaten North Yarmouth Academy in a Western Maine Conference baseball game Monday.

NYA (4-1) took the lead in the top of the fifth, but Gray-New Gloucester (2-6) answered with three runs in the bottom half. Ryan Cavallaro and Tim Lerette sparked the rally with back-to-back singles.

Jesse Ordway gave up one run on six hits in five innings to earn the win. Aaron Boulos and Heath Martell each worked a hitless inning in relief.

 

SOUTH PORTLAND 11, KENNEBUNK 2: Jon DiBiase drove in two runs and Matt Lee pitched six strong innings as the Red Riots (4-2) beat the Rams (2-4) at Kennebunk.

Lee, who allowed five hits, also had a strong game at the plate with three singles.

POLAND 5, FALMOUTH 4: Mike Littlefield and Connor King each reached on errors and scored on a double by Devin Goyette in top of the seventh to give the Knights (2-7) their winning margin against the Yachtsmen (5-2) at Falmouth.

Falmouth rallied for three runs in the bottom of the seventh, including a two-run single by E.J. Rogers.

 

LAKE REGION 11, FREE-PORT 2: Austin Wood drove in three runs as the Lakers (3-4) beat the Falcons (1-6) at Freeport.

Lake Region opened an 8-0 lead with a five-run third inning that included a two-run single by Wood.

Josh Robbins struck out eight, allowed just three hits and had a two-run double in the first inning.

 

GREELY 13, FRYEBURG ACADEMY 0: Carter Cyr drove in four runs and scored three to lead the Rangers (5-2) past the Raiders (2-6) at Fryeburg.

Cyr hit a two-run double in the first inning and a two-run single in the seventh.

Greely starter Dan O’Brien allowed one hit in five innings.

CAMDEN HILLS 5, OAK HILL 4: Mike Crockett’s bloop single in the bottom of the sixth inning drove in Joel Gabrielle with the go-ahead run as the Windjammers (4-3) edged the Raiders (2-5) at Rockport.

Kevin Pierce hit a two-run double to help the Windjammers overcome a 4-0 deficit.

 

MEDOMAK VALLEY 5, MARANACOOK 3: Dillon Reed hit a two-run single during a four-run sixth inning as the Panthers (3-4) rallied past the Black Bears (3-4) at Waldoboro.

Steve Genthner added a single, a double and an RBI for Medomak Valley.

David Clough homered and drove in all three runs for Maranacook.

MT. ARARAT 7, ERSKINE 6: Matt Harris scored on an error in the eighth inning to lift Mt. Ararat (4-4) to a win at South China.

 

GEORGES VALLEY 11, WINTHROP 0: Bryant Matthews had two hits and three RBI for the Buccaneers (3-3) in a five-inning win over the Ramblers (2-2) at Thomaston.

Dylan Maloney added two doubles and scored three runs. Ben Wallace hit an RBI triple, and winning pitcher Alec Young gave up just three hits.

LACROSSE

WELLS 7, MARSHWOOD 6: Nathan Chase scored three goals and Luke Darling finished with 18 saves as the Warriors (2-2) held off the Hawks (0-7) at Wells.

Chad Whitten added a pair of goals for Wells. Jacob Allen scored twice for Marshwood.
