GORHAM — Alex Newton’s two-run single capped a seven-run rally in the top of the seventh inning as Thornton Academy rallied for a 12-10 win over Gorham in a Telegram League baseball game.

The Golden Trojans (6-2) trailed 10-2 before starting their comeback with three runs in the sixth. Sam Canales tied the game at 10-10 with a three-run double in the seventh.

Zach Sheeman had three hits for Thornton, and Jack Kenney pitched two perfect innings to get credit for the win.

Brendon Joyce had three hits and two RBI, and Zach Speirs had three hits and three RBI for Gorham.

 

PORTLAND 3, BONNY EAGLE 2: Caleb Fraser struck out five, walked one and allowed just three hits as the Bulldogs (5-2) edged the Scots (5-3) at Portland.

Portland opened a 3-1 lead with two runs in the fourth on an error and an RBI single by Jason Strauss.

Ryan Nason tripled and scored for Bonny Eagle in the fifth.

Kevin Moskevich took the loss despite giving up only three hits. He struck out six and walked four.

 

DEERING 6, MASSABESIC 5: Jamie Ross singled home Nick Colucci in the bottom of the ninth to lift the Rams (6-2) over the Mustangs (0-8) at Portland.

Massabesic scored four runs on four walks and two errors in the third inning to take a 5-2 lead.

Deering got two back in the fourth, aided by Nick DiBiase’s solo homer. Jake Nichols singled home Colucci to tie it in the seventh.

Travis Wade retired all five batters he faced to pick up the win.

 

WESTBROOK 6, SANFORD 5: Matt Weimer allowed three runs on six hits in six innings and homered twice to lead the Blue Blazes (6-2) past the Redskins (2-6) at Westbrook.

Weimer finished with three RBI. Zach Collett was 3 for 4 with a run and an RBI.

OJ Martin went 3 for 4 with a home run for Sanford.

BIDDEFORD 4, MARSHWOOD 2: Tyler Parker snapped a 2-2 tie with a two-out, two-run single in the fifth inning to lift the Tigers (4-4) over the Hawks (2-5) at Biddeford.

Trevor Fleurent scored three runs for Biddeford. Mike Vadnais allowed seven hits and walked none.

Luke Fernandes doubled and scored for Marshwood in the first inning, and Troy Pappas had an RBI single in the third.

 

SCARBOROUGH 4, KENNEBUNK 0: Ben Wessel tossed a three-hitter and Luke Bogdanovich drove in two runs to help the Red Storm (5-2) down the Rams (3-5) at Scarborough.

Jacob Rutt had an RBI infield single and Bogdanovich hit a sacrifice fly as part of Scarborough’s three-run third.

 

WINDHAM 10, NOBLE 0: Ben Noble struck out four, walked none and allowed just three hits as the Eagles (5-4) beat the Knights (0-8) at Windham.

Kyle Williams was 2 for 3 with two RBI for Windham, which ended the game with a seven-run fifth, capped by Adam Szklany’s two-run double.

GREELY 10, YORK 1: Emma Seymour had three hits and scored three runs to lead the Rangers (8-1) past the Wildcats (5-4) at Cumberland.

Danielle Cimino, Marika Stayte and Michaela Finnegan each had two hits and two RBI for Greely. Mary Zambello (7-1) scattered seven hits, struck out two and walked two.

Chelsea Hutchins, Gabrielle Gauthier and Eleni Zotos each had two hits for York.

FRYEBURG ACADEMY 16, SACOPEE VALLEY 3: Maggie McConkey was 3 for 4 with two RBI, and Ariel McConkey hit a two-run homer to help the Raiders (11-0) beat the Hawks (5-2) at South Hiram.

Charlotte Lewis, the winning pitcher, and Brylie Walker each added two hits and two RBI.

Melissa Mayhew had two hits, including an RBI double, for Sacopee Valley.

POLAND 13, OLD ORCHARD BEACH 1: Libby Bernier had two hits, three runs and two RBI to lead the Knights (2-8) past the Seagulls (3-5) in a five-inning game at Old Orchard Beach.

THORNTON ACADEMY 14, PORTLAND 8: Erin Kany scored five goals, and Alanna Richard had three goals and four assists to lead the Golden Trojans (4-1) past the Bulldogs (4-3) at Saco.

Deidra Mack added two goals for Thornton.

Elizabeth McAdam scored twice for Portland.

CAPE ELIZABETH 14, GREELY 4: Lauren Steidl scored five goals, and Karyn Barrett had four goals and two assists to lead the Capers (4-3) past the visiting Rangers (0-6).
