BANGOR — The Maine Troop Greeters organization is marking its seventh anniversary of greeting troops at Bangor International Airport with an open house.
Over the years, group members have been at the airport for every military transport flight coming from and going overseas. In all, they’ve greeted more than 5,000 flights carrying more than 1 million troops.
Today, the group is holding an open house in the airport’s troop greeter room to share the history and the stories of the troops they’ve met. The public can also view the 3,600 military challenge coins that soldiers have given greeters over the years.
