NEW YORK – Campbell Brown said Tuesday that she’s quitting her prime-time show on CNN primarily for one reason: Not enough people are watching her.

CNN has struggled in the prime-time ratings as cable news viewers have increasingly sought edgier, more opinionated programming. Brown, a former NBC News reporter, advertised a “no bias, no bull” persona in a straight news and analysis program with a concentration on politics.

Brown said it was her decision to leave. She said she could say she was leaving to spend more time with her two young children or pursue new opportunities, and both would be partly true.

“But I have never had much tolerance for others’ spin, so I can’t imagine trying to stomach my own,” she said. “The simple fact is that not enough people want to watch my program, and I owe it to myself and to CNN to get out of the way so that CNN can try something else.”

Her time slot is dominated by Fox News Channel’s Bill O’Reilly, who is averaging 3.3 million viewers this year, and MSNBC’s Keith Olbermann, who has 1 million viewers. The longtime rivals are political polar opposites who host the top-rated hours on their respective networks.

Travolta, Preston expect a new addition to family

LOS ANGELES – John Travolta and Kelly Preston say in a statement on their websites that they “are expecting a new addition to our family.”

The couple did not specify what the addition is.

Various entertainment sites, including People.com and E! Online, interpreted the statement to mean that Preston is pregnant at 47.

Representatives for Preston and Travolta did not respond Tuesday to e-mail messages from The Associated Press.

Preston and Travolta have a 10-year-old daughter, Ella. The couple’s son, Jett, died last year at age 16. The family’s two dogs were killed Thursday in an accident at Maine’s Bangor International Airport.

Lil Jon OK with big computer

NEW YORK – Lil Jon says he’s not interested in keeping up with the trends in technology — and that includes the iPad.

In a recent interview, the rapper and producer said: “I already have a big computer”. He called the iPad “just the latest toy.”

The 38-year-old is old-school when it comes to his tech devices — he still carries the once-hot Sidekick, which he says “types really fast.”

He declared: “I ain’t going to buy no iPhone.” He also said the buttons on the BlackBerry are too small — and he has big thumbs.

Jon’s upcoming CD, “Crunk Rock,” is set for release June 8.

Reaser: ‘Twilight’ talks part of showbiz

NEW YORK – The matriarch of the Cullen family in the “Twilight” films says talk of contract disputes are overblown.

Elizabeth Reaser, who plays Esme Cullen, says people need to understand contract negotiations are a part of showbiz.

It’s been reported online that Ashley Greene and Kellan Lutz, who play vampires Alice and Emmett Cullen, originally had a three-picture deal and needed a new contract for the fourth installment of the franchise.

Summit Entertainment says it won’t comment on negotiations or business discussions on its films.
