PORTLAND — A top Amtrak official is speaking in Maine at the 22nd annual meeting of the Trainriders/Northeast rail advocacy group.

Amtrak Vice President Joseph McHugh will be the keynote speaker at tonight’s meeting at the Holiday Inn by the Bay in Portland.

Also speaking is Patricia Quinn, executive director for the Northern New England Passenger Rail Authority, which manages the Downeaster train service that runs between Portland and Boston.

The program is also recognizing the conductors, assistant conductors, engineers and cafe car attendants who work on the Downeaster.
