WESTBROOK – Westbrook opened a 6-1 lead with four runs in the third inning and posted a 7-1 victory over Portland in an SMAA baseball game on Wednesday.

Scott Heath and Jake Gardiner each hit a two-run single in the third for the Blue Blazes (11-5).

Heath, Matt Weimer and Sean Murphy combined to hold the Bulldogs (8-8) to four hits while striking out 10.

FALMOUTH 8, WELLS 0: Mitch Beaulieu had three doubles and two RBI to lead Falmouth (10-6) past the Warriors (5-11) at Wells.

Dillon Dresser pitched a two-hitter, striking out six and walking three. He gave up the Warriors’ first hit in the sixth inning and another in the seventh.

KENNEBUNK 9, MARSHWOOD 5: Mike Kinney helped break open the game with a two-run single with one out in the fourth inning as the Rams (6-10) beat the Hawks (8-8) at Kennebunk.

After trailing 3-1 entering the inning, Kennebunk took advantage of four errors in the fourth to score eight runs.

Luke Fernandes went 3 for 4 for Kennebunk.

YARMOUTH 10, NORTH YARMOUTH ACADEMY 0: Nick Whittaker had a two-run home run in the first inning and Luke Pierce added a two-run triple in the third to lead the Clippers (15-1) over the Panthers (11-4-1) in five innings at Yarmouth.

Whittaker also struck out seven in four innings.

GRAY-NEW GLOUCESTER 11, YORK 8: Ryan Cavallaro and Taylor Valente each homered and drove in two runs as the Patriots (9-7) defeated the Wildcats (8-8) at York.

Devin Merritt hit a three-run homer for York in the second inning, but Gray-New Gloucester scored five runs over the next three innings to take a 9-5 lead.

SANFORD 6, NOBLE 0: Dave Hamilton pitched five-hitter to lead the Redskins (5-11) over the Knights (0-16) at Sanford.

Will Collinson went 3 for 4, and Ryan Legere had two singles to drive in two runs.

ST. DOMINIC 8, MONMOUTH ACADEMY 3: The Saints scored six unearned runs on their way to a victory over the Mustangs (2-12) at Monmouth.

Billy Cunningham had two singles for Monmouth.

SOUTH PORTLAND 9, GORHAM 2: Matt Lee hit a two-run double in the fifth inning to help South Portland (11-5) pull away from the Rams (4-12) at Gorham.

Lee finished with two hits and three RBI. Jon DiBiase and Conner Vincent each had two singles and one RBI.

John Medici pitched six innings, giving up three hits while striking out two.

BRUNSWICK 2, MT. BLUE 1: Stephen Carter pitched five perfect innings in relief and Carl Sickel hit an RBI single in the bottom of the 10th inning as the Dragons (8-8) beat the Cougars (4-12) at Brunswick.

Reliever Jimmy Neal pitched 71/3 innings for Mt. Blue, allowing one run on five hits while striking out six and walking none.

Clint Orcutt walked with the bases loaded in the second inning to score Bradley Jackson and give Mt. Blue a 1-0 lead. Kyle Franklin hit an RBI double in the bottom of the inning to tie it.

LACROSSE

WINDHAM 13, MARSHWOOD 6: John Skvorak scored five goals and assisted on four others to lead the Eagles (7-5) past the Hawks (1-11) at Windham.

Joe Parent added four goals and one assist for Windham, and Madison St. Peter scored two goals and had 29 ground balls.

CAPE ELIZABETH 16, WAYNFLETE 3: Harper Nelson had five goals and an assist for the Capers (6-3) in their win over the Flyers (8-4) at Portland.

Tom Foden scored four goals and added an assist, and Teddy Smith scored three times.

NORTH YARMOUTH ACADEMY 10, YORK 8: Forrest Millburn scored four goals to help the Panthers (5-7) edge the Wildcats (7-5) at York.

Kyle Robinson led York with three goals, and Shane Hughes and Dillon DellaPasqua added two goals apiece.

THORNTON ACADEMY 12, MASSABESIC 7: Tim Gross had four goals and one assist to pace Thornton Academy (6-6) to a win over Massabesic (5-7) at Saco.

The teams were tied 7-7 after three quarters, but the Trojans shut out the visitors 5-0 in the fourth quarter to nail down the win. Gross contributed two goals in the fourth. Trojans goalie Tom Allain finished with nine saves.

MORSE 13, GARDINER 8: Alexander Paulus had five goals and one assist, and Luke Moreau added three goals and four assists to lead the Shipbuilders (7-5) past the Tigers (7-5) at Bath.

GORHAM 7, CHEVERUS 6: The Rams held off the Stags to win at Portland. Peter Dyche and Mike Haas-Zanghi each scored twice for Cheverus.
