A businessman from Gorham who has collected enough signatures to appear on the November ballot as an independent candidate for governor has loaned his campaign $500,000, according to recently filed finance reports.

Shawn Moody owns Moody Collision Services, which has locations in Gorham, Scarborough, Biddeford, Portland and Sanford. He has declined interviews, saying he will determine whether he will actually be on the ballot only after seeing who wins the parties’ primary elections Tuesday.

According to campaign finance reports filed May 28, he has loaned his campaign $500,000. Expenses so far include creation of a campaign logo, professional photography and a trip to Washington, D.C.

He also listed $1,500 for an ad with WCSH in Portland and, according to records at WGME, has reserved 25 ad spots to begin running the day after the primary for $10,620.
