BOSTON – A 10-year-old Boston girl is recovering in the hospital after being shot in the leg on the same street where a teenager was killed less than a week ago.

Police Superintendent Paul Fitzgerald said the girl was taken Friday to the Boston Medical Center and that her injuries were not life-threatening.

Witnesses told police the suspect opened fire Friday while riding a scooter, then ran off. The scooter was lying in the middle of Creston Street in Boston’s Roxbury neighborhood while officers investigated.

Boston police commissioner Ed Davis said the girl was not the intended target but the shooting was gang-related.

No arrests have been made.

Last week, 18-year-old Terrence Kelley was shot multiple times near the same location.
