AUGUSTA — Free foreclosure prevention clinics are being held around Maine to inform homeowners about their rights and options to avoid foreclosure if they are struggling to make house payments or fear that they may lose their home due to foreclosure.

The Maine Housing Counseling Network is holding its first session June 12 in Augusta. Other clinics are scheduled in Portland on June 26; in Sanford on July 22; and in Bangor on Aug. 21.

The network is receiving assistance and support for the clinics from the Maine Bureau of Consumer Credit Protection, MaineHousing and the U.S. Department of Housing and Urban Development.
