BANGOR  — A Maine man is going to prison for plotting to smuggle nearly 100,000 Ecstasy pills across the U.S-Canada border.

Forty-six-year-old Bernard LeFrancois, of Keegan, was sentenced Tuesday to 44 months in prison and three years of supervised release after that.

LeFrancois pleaded guilty last year to conspiracy to import controlled substances and conspiracy to possess with intent to distribute controlled substances, and has been held without bail since then.

The Bangor Daily News reports that he got a sentence reduction for telling police where the pills were stored.
