TRACK AND FIELD: University of Maine sophomore Riley Masters of Bangor reached Saturday’s finals in the 1,500-meter run at the NCAA Division I championships by finishing fifth in his semifinal heat at Eugene, Ore.
Masters set a school record with a time of 3 minutes, 42.01 seconds, beating the previous record of 3:42.06 set by Dereck Treadwell in 1996. The finals are scheduled to be televised live on CBS at 1:30 p.m.

NECBL: Shane Davis pitched six strong innings and Bobby Doyon singled home the go-ahead run in the fourth inning as the Sanford Mainers beat the North Shore Navigators 4-1 at Lynn, Mass.
