SACO — Mia Rapolla scored in the third overtime – her fifth goal of the game – to lift third-seeded Gorham to a 13-12 victory against second-ranked Thornton Academy in a Western Class A schoolgirl lacrosse semifinal Saturday.

The Rams will play at Scarborough in the regional final Wednesday.

Rapolla won the draw to open the third overtime, then raced down the field to end it 14 seconds into the period.

Thornton (11-3) led 10-8 with six minutes left in regulation before Gorham (12-2) scored three straight to take an 11-10 lead. Alanna Richard then tied it with 1:39 left to force overtime.

Gorham took another one-goal lead in the first overtime before Richard scored her fourth goal of the game with 38 seconds left. Neither team scored in the second overtime. 

YARMOUTH 22, GARDINER 4: Nalini Robbins scored five goals and Danielle Torres added three for the second-seeded Clippers (10-3), who took a 12-0 lead against the third-ranked Tigers (8-5) in an Eastern Class B semifinal at Yarmouth.

Becca Bell and Brenna Bialek added four goals and three assists apiece.

Brooke Davis scored twice for Gardiner. 

FALMOUTH 11, CAPE ELIZABETH 10: Laura Fay’s goal with 1:13 remaining lifted the third-seeded Yachtsmen (12-3) past the second-seeded Capers (10-4) in a Western Class B semifinal at Falmouth.

Alex Bernier and Emma Sipperly each scored three goals for Falmouth, which overcame a 6-4 halftime deficit.

Karyn Barrett had four goals and an assist for Cape Elizabeth, and Talley Perkins added a pair of goals.

FRYEBURG ACADEMY 5, GRAY-NEW GLOUCESTER 4: Maggie McConkey singled in Brylie Walker with the winning run in the sixth inning as the top-ranked Raiders (17-1) downed the fourth-seeded Patriots (15-3) in a Western Class B semifinal at Fryeburg.

Gray-New Gloucester took a 3-0 lead in the first inning on Maggie Chaplin’s two-run double. Ariel McConkey hit a two-run homer for Fryeburg in the third inning, and Maggie McConkey made it 4-4 with a sacrifice fly in the fourth. 

MARANACOOK 7, GREELY 3: Pitcher Sarah Maxwell dominated early, then held on late as the second-ranked Black Bears (16-2) beat third-seeded Greely (15-3) in a Western Class B semifinal at Readfield.

Maxwell struck out eight through four perfect innings, and the Black Bears scored once in the second and five times in the third to take a 6-0 lead.

GEORGES VALLEY 5, HALL-DALE 2: Danielle Frye pitched six strong inning to lead the second-seeded Buccaneers (16-0) over the third-ranked Bulldogs (12-4) in a Western Class C semifinal at Thomaston.

Frye struck out seven and didn’t give up an earned run, scattering five hits and four walks.
