Portland police continue to investigate the theft of a swath bathsymetry transducer from a sailboat that was undergoing repairs at Portland Yatch Services on the Portland waterfront.
The transducer was stolen early last week from the Gambo, a research vessel that was scheduled to sail to Greenland to begin scientific studies next month. The research cannot be conducted without the transducer.
Phineas Sprague of Portland Yacht Services has authorized a reward of $1,000 for the equipment’s return.
Anyone with information about the theft is asked to call the Portland Police Criminal Investigations Division at 874-8533.
