AUGUSTA — Maine energy officials say the price of home heating oil continues to fall, dropping a a penny a gallon in the last week.

The Governor’s Office of Energy Independence and Security said today that the statewide average cash price for No. 2 heating oil was $2.60 a gallon.

A statewide survey found the lowest price of $2.28 a gallon in southwest Maine while the eastern part of the state had the highest price of $2.80 a gallon.
