Portland Public Library will host a book-launching celebration for “Moon Watchers: Shirin’s Ramadan Miracle,” a children’s book that explores Muslim family traditions.
The book’s author, Reza Jalali, and its illustrator, Anne Sibley O’Brien, have organized a series of events around Saturday’s launch celebration including moon and star gazing with USM Southworth Planetarium guides, Arabic writing with the author, henna painting, Iranian food and music and book signings.
The event runs from 1 p.m. to 3 p.m. Saturday at the Portland Public Library.
