BREWER — Debbie Colpitts struck out 11 batters as the Hermon softball team won the Class B championship with a 6-1 win over Fryeburg Academy at Coffin Field.
All six of the Hawks’ runs were unearned – Hermon scored three runs in the bottom of the first inning, as the Raiders (18-2) committed two errors, then scored three more in the bottom of the fifth on Kristen Wilcox’s double to the left field corner, which came after Fryeburg’s third error.
Hermon (18-2) ended Fryeburg’s reign as two-time Class B champions.
