STANDISH – Ryan Lafleur scattered six hits and struck out 11 to lead Dirigo High of Dixfield to its first Class C baseball state championship Saturday with a 4-2 victory against Calais at St. Joseph’s College.

Dirigo (18-2) scored single runs in the third, fourth, fifth and sixth innings to take control. Calais (15-4) made it interesting in the top of the seventh by loading the bases and scoring two runs.

But with runners on first and second, Lafleur struck out Jeremy Beers to end the game.

After being held to three hits through six innings by Lafleur, the Blue Devils had three hits in the seventh.

Jeremy Carr had a two-run single for Calais in the seventh. Dylan Ramsdell added three hits.

Tyler Chiasson broke up a scoreless game with an RBI single in the third for Dirigo.

The Cougars made it 3-0 on a wild pitch in the fifth and added a run on an RBI groundout by Cliff Turner in the sixth.

The state baseball title goes with the Class C state football title that Dirigo captured last fall.
