Some cities and towns across the state are reporting feeling shaking in the wake of a magnitude 5.0 earthquake near the Ontario-Quebec border that shook southeastern Canada and several states this afternoon.

A medical office building on Marginal Way in Portland was evacuated around 1:45 p.m. today after workers felt the building shaking.

Workers at Intermed were evacuated after feeling the building shake, said Lisa Labbay, Intermed’s director of operations.

“It went on for just a couple of brief seconds,” Labbay said. “We are back in the building seeing patients.”
