BIDDEFORD — Organizers of the La Kermesse festival say financial problems and indictment of its former president this month drew one of the worst turnouts in its 28-year history.

Fewer than 2,000 people turned out for the three-day festival, which wrapped up its festivities this afternoon at the Biddeford Arena and Expo Center. The festival was in a new indoor venue with scaled-down activities.
