Rock the Box will hold a box lacrosse tournament at Fitzpatrick Stadium on Friday and Saturday. The tournament has men’s and women’s divisions of U9, U11, U13, U15, high school gold, high school silver (JV) and open (college/club), as well as a men’s masters division (over 33). The box playing boundary is 40 by 24 yards, with nets of 4 by 4.5 feet. Teams are composed of 9 to 13 players, and the cost is $700 per team. The registration deadline is Tuesday. The Sheepscot River Race will be held at 2 p.m. Saturday. The 6-mile canoe and kayak race starts at the Wiscasset waterfront and finishes at Sherman Lake in Newcastle. The Nasson Community Center will hold a yard sale before the annual Walk/Run for the Gym 5K in Springvale on July 10. Proceeds will benefit the community center. The Maine State Chapter of the National Football Foundation will host a golf tournament on July 12 at Belgrade Lakes Golf Club. The four-person scramble starts at 1 p.m. and serves as the foundation’s top fundraiser to support a scholarship fund and membership drive. The fee is $100 per person and includes greens fees, a cart, prizes, refreshments and a membership in the National Football Foundation. Hole sponsorships are also available for $100.
