PORTLAND
Tuesday Vignola dinner features Tunisian fare

Taste fine Tunisian foods at Vignola Tuesday during a special dinner featuring products from Les Moulins Mahjoub.

Majid Mahjoub is the owner of a premier product line, dating back to the late 1800s, that includes organic virgin olive oil, table olives, condiments, wild mountain capers, sun-dried tomatoes, piquant orange slices and harissa. Mahjoub will be at the restaurant to talk about his foods and answer questions.

The Rogers Collection, a local importer, is sponsoring Mahjoub’s visit. The four-course dinner will be prepared by Mahjoub and Lee Skawinski, chef and co-owner of Vignola at 10 Dana St.

There will be one seating from 6 to 9 p.m., and reservations are recommended. The cost is $60 per person, excluding tax and gratuity. To reserve a spot, call 772-1330.

Tequilas are hot right now.

There are two opportunities in Portland this week to learn more about the liquor and how it’s made, and of course sample some product.

Tonight at The Salt Exchange, 245 Commercial St. there will be a Hornitos Tequila tasting from 5 to 8 for just $10 per person.

On Thursday there will be another Hornitos tasting from 5 to 7 p.m. at El Rayo Taqueria, 101 York St. Sample some new menu items and taste tequilas for $15 per person.
