The Maine Tennis Association Championships will be held at the Waynflete Sports Complex July 9-11. Competition will be held in both men’s and women’s open singles and doubles as well as in men’s 35+, 45+ and 55+ singles. Big Hits Summer Softball Camp, sponsored by Scarborough Community Services, has announced its lineup of coaches: Deb Smith, University of Maine head coach; Lynn Coutts ( Frozen Ropes); Tom Griffin, Scarborough High varsity coach; Liz Winslow, Scarborough High assistant coach; Jen Williams, Southern New Hampshire assistant coach. The camp runs from 9 a.m. to 3 p.m. July 12-17 at Scarborough High. Cost is $185, and Scarborough residents receive a $10-$15 discount. SailMaine will host the USA Junior Olympics Sailing Festival Northeast on July 13 off Portland’s Eastern Promenade. More than 300 sailors ages 8 to 18 will compete in four divisions. Fort Allen Park and other points along the promenade will offer spectator viewing. An award ceremony will follow the event on July 14. For more information, visit www.sailmaine.org.
