Falmouth pushes across ninth-inning run to edge Morrill Post 5-4 in Legion game

Ryan MacDonald tripled and scored on a throwing error in the ninth inning to lift Falmouth to a 5-4 victory over Morrill Post in an American Legion baseball game at South Portland on Friday night.

Benji Burnes went 3 for 3 and hit the tying RBI double during a three-run sixth inning for Falmouth (3-3), which rallied from a 4-1 deficit. Dillon Dresser pitched a six-hitter and struck out five.

Rob MacDonald had two hits and an RBI for Morrill.

Mike Gouin pitched a seven-hitter with 16 strikeouts and had two singles and three RBI to lead Bonanza of Sanford (3-5) to an 8-0 win over visiting Kennebunk (3-5).

NECBL: Dustin Ramey allowed three hits in seven innings and Brett Mollenhauer drove in two runs to lead the Sanford Mainers (14-9) to a 7-0 win over the Lowell All-Americans (5-15) at The Ballpark in Old Orchard Beach.

TWILIGHT LEAGUE: Justin Collette hit a solo home run and a two-run triple as Patriot Insurance (3-8) downed Aero Heating & Ventilating 8-6 at Portland.
Travis Adams hit two home runs for Aero.

Ben Ives pitched a one-hitter and struck out six, and Josh Stowell had three hits and drove in four runs to lead Lenders Network (9-3) to a 6-0 victory over Ron Beaulieu & Co. at Standish.

LACROSSE

TOURNAMENT POSTPONED: The Rock the Box lacrosse tournament scheduled for this weekend in Portland has been postponed because of scheduling conflicts and will be rescheduled for the fall.
