BROWNFIELD — A Brownfield, Maine, man is in jail for allegedly shooting another man while interceding in a family dispute.

Oxford County Sheriff Wayne Gallant said 42-year-old Keith Brain was charged with elevated aggravated assault for allegedly shooting 38-year-old James Walsh in the leg and arm at about 4:20 p.m. Saturday at a home on Moore Road.

Walsh was taken to Bridgton Hospital, and his injuries are not considered life-threatening.

Gallant said Brain fled into the woods after the shooting. He was arrested after emerging shortly before 9 p.m.
