A FIVER WILL buy a lot at the L.L. Bean Food Festival: Sample crab cakes, lobster rolls, desserts and other delicious dishes from at least 10 restaurants. Then watch chefs from the Harraseeket Inn, the 1912 Cafe and the Azure Cafe compete in an “Iron Chef”-style competition. Follow that up with dessert by testing your mettle (and your gullet) in a whoopie pie eating contest. The festival benefits Freeport Community Services.
WHEN: 11 a.m. to 4 p.m. Saturday. The tasting will be from 11 to 2 p.m., the chef competition from 2 to 3 p.m., and the whoopie pie eating contest will be held at 3 p.m.

ART AND THEATER: Music of the masters in free concert
THE ATLANTIC MUSIC FESTIVAL presents “American Masters,” its first chamber music concert of the season, at Colby College on Wednesday. The concert will include selections by Aaron Copland, John Adams and Samuel Barber.

THE YARMOUTH CLAM FESTIVAL truly has something for everyone. The fun starts on Friday and continues through Sunday. Highlights include the parade (6 p.m. Friday); the canoe and kayak race (6:30 a.m. Saturday); the 5-mile Road Race (8 a.m. Saturday); the Clam Shucking Contest (11 a.m. Saturday); the Firefighters Muster (1 p.m. Saturday); the Bike Race (9 a.m. Sunday); and the Diaper Derby (noon Sunday).
