SYRACUSE, N.Y. – Boston Red Sox right-hander Clay Buchholz allowed two runs on four hits in 3 2/3 innings in his first rehab start Friday night for the Pawtucket Red Sox.

Buchholz is on the disabled list with a strained left hamstring. He threw 60 pitches against the Syracuse Chiefs in an International League game. His next start is expected to be with Boston.

Pitcher Josh Beckett is scheduled to make his rehab start for Pawtucket tonight, also at Syracuse.

Buchholz, 10-4 with a 2.45 ERA, was chosen for the All-Star game but didn’t play because of the injury.

He left Friday’s game with a 5-2 lead and a runner on first with two outs. He had two strikeouts, one walk, a balk and a hit batsman.
