Portland police said they have tentatively identified the man whose body was found in Portland Harbor this morning as a 60-year-old transient man.

Police said they are not releasing the man’s identity until family members have been notified. An autopsy is scheduled for Wednesday by the state medical examiner.

The body was discovered at 5:47 a.m. near the Ocean Gateway Terminal, police said.

The death does not appear suspicious, police said.

Portland police are investigating the death of a man found floating in Portland Harbor this morning.

Public safety workers recovered the body at about 6:30 a.m. There was nothing immediately suspicious about the death, police said.
