ALFRED — The York County Democratic Committee will select a new candidate for county district attorney tonight.

The committee has to select a new candidate because Mark Lawrence decided not to seek re-election following the June primary. The Republican Party hasn’t put up a candidate, and because state law only allows replacement candidates at this point, the Democratic selection will be the only candidate for the post on the ballot.

The special meeting will be held at the Alfred Parish Church on the Alfred Village Square on Route 202/4, beginning with a social gathering at 6:30 p.m. The formal meeting begins at 7 p.m.
