The city of Portland, Maine Department of Transportation and the Portland Area Comprehensive Transportation System will host a public forum Wednesday to discuss the future of the Franklin Street Corridor and I-295’s Exit 7.

City planners, in collaboration with other interested groups, will discuss three design options, after which an in-depth feasibility study will be conducted on the designs.

Engineers and technical experts will answer questions by participants regarding the three designs.

The final design will aim to increase traffic efficiency, improve pedestrian and cyclist safety, and reuse city land along the corridor.

The public meeting will begin at 5:30 p.m. at the East End School Community Center in Portland and last until 8:30 p.m.
