The Maine Chapter of The National Football Foundation is sponsoring the fourth annual “kick-off luncheon” featuring the head football coaches of the six football playing colleges in Maine: Mark Harriman of Bates, Dave Caputi of Bowdoin, Ed Mestieri of Colby, Niles Nelson of Husson, Chris McKenney of Maine Maritime and Jack Cosgrove of Maine. The luncheon is at noon Aug. 5 at the Howard Johnson Conference Center (formerly Verrillo’sRestaurant) at 155 Riverside Street, Portland. Tickets are $18 and the deadline is July 30. Practices for fall athletics at Marshwood High School will begin on Aug. 16 at the following times and locations: boys’ soccer, 7 to 8:30 a.m. and 6 to 7:30 p.m., secondary field; girls’ soccer, 8 to 9:30 a.m. and 4:30 to 6 p.m., secondary field; field hockey, 7 to 10 a.m. and 4 to 6 p.m., field hockey field; football, 7:30 to 11:15 a.m. and 3:45 to 6:15 p.m., cafeteria/patio area; cheering, 8 to 11 a.m.; cross country, 8 to 10 a.m., track; golf, 2 to 5 p.m., Links at Outlook.
