Sanford firefighters are battling a blaze in a former church building on Bodwell Street.
The fire broke out at about 2 p.m. and authorities report that the building’s roof has collapsed.
There is a former Methodist Church on Bodwell Street, though it has not been used as a church for years. It is unclear whether the former sanctuary has burned or one of the attached buildings.
