Members of Axis Dance Company visited the Morrison Developmental Center in Scarborough on Tuesday to perform and work with members of the community who are developmentally disabled, as well as with their caregivers. California-based Axis is in Maine for the Bates Dance Festival in Lewiston. Tuesday’s program was part of the festival’s continuing outreach. Dancers performed excerpts from several pieces, including one called “The Beauty that Was Mine Through the Middle Without Stopping.” Axis includes dancers with and without disabilities. Axis performs at 8 p.m. Friday and Saturday at Schaeffer Theatre at Bates College. More information is available from this link to the Bates Dance Festival or call 786-6161.
